The Trans Questioning Guide

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of These Terms

This website and The Trans Questioning Guide (together, "the guide") are provided by Evelynn McDermott ("the author"). By accessing this website, reading the guide online, or downloading it, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the guide.

2. Educational Purpose — Disclaimer

This guide is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, or professional advice, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Nothing here is a substitute for consultation with a qualified, licensed professional. Always seek professional advice regarding any medical or mental health concern, and never disregard or delay it because of something you have read here.

Parts of this guide — the medical and legal sections in particular — assume a reader who can make these decisions on their own. If you're under 18, those parts describe things that will involve your parents or guardians and a doctor. The rest of the book is for you the same as anyone. Please find an adult you trust and can talk to: a school counselor, a teacher, a relative, your doctor, or a youth organization like the Trevor Project. Telling one safe adult is not the same as coming out to everybody, and a good one will help you figure out the timing. If anyone — online or in person — tells you to keep your conversations with them secret from your parents, that is a warning sign, and you should tell another adult.

If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, contact your local emergency services or a licensed professional immediately. If you are struggling and want to talk to someone, the Trans Lifeline (877-565-8860 in the US) is staffed by trans people, and the Trevor Project (1-866-488-7386, or text START to 678-678) serves LGBTQ+ young people under 25.
